Tell Us Which Calls Weren't Worth It
Hi H Client!
Every landscape company has had the call that ate up an afternoon. The walkthrough for a patio on a budget that was never going to fit, the homeowner in a town you've decided you don't want to service anymore, the property manager looking for a one-time cleanup when you sell annual contracts. Those calls cost more than the ad that brought them in, because they cost your company time.
Quite a bit of this, we catch on our own. For example, at every Meta and Google Ads check-in, we look at the quality of your calls as closely as the number of them. We read every form submission, and we watch how long calls last, since a very short call usually means the person wasn't a fit. Our team loves the challenge of lead quality, and we'll keep solving for it relentlessly. Most of this happens behind the scenes without you knowing, because it's part of our high internal standards.
Lead quality is a partnership, though, and it improves fastest when marketing and sales are working from the same information. Your team hears every call. We control who sees your ads, which searches you show up for and what your website promises before someone ever picks up the phone. When we know which calls missed the mark, we trace each one back to the campaign, the search and the page that brought it in, and we change what's attracting it. The next month's calls get closer to the jobs you actually want.
There are two good ways to close that gap. First, call recordings let us hear for ourselves which calls missed and why, and if recording isn't turned on for your account yet, your Project Manager can walk you through the process of activating it. Second, the calls your team already knows were the wrong fit are just as valuable. Forward a few recent ones to your Project Manager with a short note on why each one missed, whether it was too small, the wrong service, an area you don't want to work in anymore, or a price shopper. Spam, robocalls and sales pitches count too, and we'll block those numbers in your call tracking so they stop landing in your reports.
That said, these are short-term fixes. The most effective long-term fix is connecting your CRM to your lead tracking, so your revenue dashboard shows every call right next to whether it turned into an estimate and a signed job. A lot of this then becomes something we can see ourselves, and the conversation moves past how many calls came in to which ones are winning work. If you don't have that connection yet, get in touch with your Project Manager so we can set it up with you. The information there is priceless, and powerful in bringing you more high-quality leads and helping you reach your revenue goals.
The best results we see come from clients who tell us what's working and what isn't, often. If something about your calls has been on your mind, even something small, tell your Project Manager this week. That's how next month's calls get better.
