CrewRecruiter’s automated reference checks help you work and hire smarter, not harder. It takes one minute, on your end, and the rest is kind of magical.

  • With our efficient automated references checks, 85% of references generally respond.

  • Within approximately 2 days, you will receive an easy-to-read reference review of your candidate.

  • IP addresses are tracked, to minimize spam-tastic responses.

  • The questions in the reference survey are auto-generated, so they are specific to your job posting.

The process is easy

1. You order a reference check on CrewRecruiter by clicking on the applicant from the applicant dashboard, and then “Verify” and Finally Reference Check.

2. Applicant receives an email explaining how to enter the references’ information; candidate completes the request. The platform asks for a mix of a minimum of 3 managers and 2 non-managers.

3. References receive emails requesting them to complete a survey (you are not sending these emails, its all part of the automated workflow!). The IP address is tracked (and then shared with you, to prove that these didn’t all come from the kind sister or friend). The questions that the references are asked are auto-generated based on the job description!! You do nothing.

4. Within 1-3 days, you receive a detailed report stored in the "Restricted Files" section of the applicant’s profile (in that left side menu) after a minimum of the 3 of 5 references have completed the surveys (and you also receive this report via email). Before Getting Started

  • Reach out to your project manager to activate this access (only need to do this once).

  • We will place your credit card on file; you will be charged $19(!) for each reference check (not per response, but $19 per candidate, regardless of the number of references collected for the candidate).


A Peek into the Full Reference Check Report

You will receive a detailed and confidential report that includes helpful information that will empower you to make good hiring decisions.

1. Skill & behavioral questions are automatically generated, using the job description.

Using your job title & description, the questions that the references answer, are auto-generated, so that they are relevant to your job. You do nothing, but request and read. :)

2. Your executive summary, automatically compiled, for you. 

This summary can help reduce your turnover rate and improve the quality of your hires. All the reference responses are compiled into an overall analysis predicting the likelihood of turnover within a year of employment– based on statistical data from tens of thousands of new hires. Example Screenshots below, but keep in mind the skills here are going to be different, automatically, based on the job type/Job description.

3. Individual Reference Survey Responses

You’ll be able to see the individual responses of each reference, including their answers to open-ended questions about the candidate’s strengths and weaknesses.

4. Reference Authentication Report

Ensure the references are legitimate by verifying the IP addresses of the references and the candidate. This report will help indicate if the reference responses are coming from the same location as the candidate, ensuring the integrity of all of your hires.
